Placement:- Whole process of getting placement is quite amazing, you will learn a lot of things in FLEET.

Waiting Period:- I must say FLEET has done fab work on it's waiting period cuz now there is no waiting at all . They are sending onboard within a month.

Training & Wellbeing:- I got my training from IMI and i must say it's one of the best institute you can get into.

Placement:- In DNS, we are already placed before the course begin. About placement in TSR in other courses like BSC nautical science, GP rating and CCMC is great. Almost 90% cadets and ratings are able to get placement before course finishes. Moreover TSR also cares about their cadets and ratings after the course they they don't get placed. Alumni can contact the college and they will surely help.

Waiting Period:- In Fleet Management Limited, As of now their is NO waiting period. Just complete your documents they will send you on the ship.

Training & Wellbeing:- In TSR, you will get the best training. They have knowledgeable and experienced faculties.Guys About TSR keep in mind you are in one of the best maritime college. Discipline, training, praticals, the way the college function is awesome !! Discipline is the root element.

Waiting Period:- After covid fleet has not come and in 2022 they started taking So the waiting period is almost 2 Months.

Tolani Maritime Institute

  • Tolani Maritime institute conducts the one year Pre Sea Deck Cadet Course leading to Diploma in Nautical Science from the Indian Maritime University (IMU).
  • This diploma programme is followed by one and half year (3 Semesters) on-board ship training and after successful completion of the same, a candidate is awarded Advanced Diploma in Nautical Science (ADNS).
  • After completion of the on-board training, the Sixth Semester constitutes “Second Mate Certificate of Competency” awarded by the Directorate General of Shipping and leads to simultaneous award of B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science) degree from IMU.
  • The first two Semesters i.e. First year constitute on-shore training which is designed to impart basic knowledge on the type of merchant ships, ship operations, types of goods carried by ships, shipping trade and a good foundation in the basic principles of navigation and environmental sciences.
  • Admission to this course is granted after clearing IMUCET.
Intake for DNS (IMU) programme
  • TMI has approval to admit 120 candidates for the Diploma in Nautical Science (IMU) leading to B.Sc. Applied Nautical Science (IMU). TMI accepts only company sponsored candidates for admission in the IMU programme. Though any registered shipping company can sponsor candidates for the DNS programme, following companies normally sponsor candidates at TMI:
  • Fleet Management, MSC, Nortrans, Fleet Management Limited, Tolani Shipping, TORM, V-Ships, Wilhelmsen Ship Management.
  • Last year following companies sponsored candidates:

Training Ship Rahaman

  • Established in the year 1910 as an Orphanage by the Late Haji Ismail Yusuf, it was converted to a Marine School and later a College by his eldest son Sir Mohamed Yusuf and has the unique distinction of not only being the first and the only one of its type in South Asia, but also the first to train Indians as Officers for the Merchant Marine.
  • This Nautical Training Institute was later renamed as “Training Ship Rahaman” in 1972 by the late Chairman (Emeritus), Mr. A. Rashid Yusuf, in memory of his father Mr. Abdul Rahaman, the first President of the Managing Board ( and the eldest son of Sir Mohamed Yusuf).
  • This pioneering establishment has over the last nine decades, served the marine community with dedication. The Institution conducts Pre Sea Courses besides various other STCW Courses on its premises.
  • The courses are recognised by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Government of India.

Education Qualification

Age Limit:
  • 20 yrs. or less as of 1st July 2024 (Born on or after 1st July 2024).
  • 12th cleared in 2023 or 2024 (appearing)
  • Not more than 2 years difference in the year of passing 10th and 12th exams respectively.
Avg PCM in 12th Std:
  • Min.70 % (Improvement exam results will not be considered)
English score in 12th Std:
  • Min.70 % (Improvement exam results will not be considered)
Candidates who have appeared 12th from Open Board, NIOS board or through Distance learning are not eligible.
Candidates who have appeared for the exam once are not eligible to re-appear for any subsequent exam conducted by our company.
Height:
  • For Male candidate Min 160 cms. For Female Min 150 cms.
BMI:
  • not more than 25.
No speech deformity.
Eyesight 6/6 without aid & no color blindness.

    Cost of Training

  • For the batch commencing August 2024, the all inclusive cost (tuition fees, boarding, lodging, uniform, etc.) of training for one year diploma course is Rs. 6,52,000/- for boys and Rs. 5,55,544/- for girls.
  • Fee is accepted by Online payment or by Demand Draft only.
    • Education Loan
  • If required, sponsoring company will assist the candidates selected by them to avail education loans from banks.
  • Shipping companies, based on their criteria, may offer scholarship programmes.
  • TMI will provide the required documents for securing education loan.
    • Refund Policy
  • In case a student, after completing the admission process and paying the fees, decides to withdraw from the Institute, a part of the fees will be forfeited. The amount forfeited depends on the date of withdrawal communicated in writing by the student and parent/guardian.
  • The refund policy for the year 2024-25 is as follows:

FEES:Fee payable by the candidate for the Diploma Course to Training Ship Rahaman and Indian Maritime University for all five semesters is as follows:
IMU Fee:
At the time admission:Rs. 40,000/- For IMU
Training Ship Rahaman Fee: Fees of Rs. 4,15,000/- for 2 Semesters of the course is payable as follows:
At the time admission:Draft of Rs. 2,07,500/- (all inclusive fee) in favour of “Sir Mohamed Yusuf Seamen Welfare Foundation” payable at Mumbai.
At beginning of Semester II:Draft of Rs. 2,07,500/- (all inclusive) in favour of “Sir Mohamed Yusuf Seamen Welfare Foundation” payable at Mumbai.
Note:
  1. Interest will be levied at 2.5% per month for late payment.
  2. Above fees are subject to change.
  3. Training Ship Rahaman has an understanding with Bank of India / Axis Bank to process Education Loans to students desiring to study in courses leading to a degree from a recognised university. The Loans will be processed through Bank of India, Gavhan branch and Axis Bank, Ulwa Branch in conjunction with the student’s local Bank of India branch.

    Selection Procedure

  1. Upon receipt of IMU test result & Class XII exam result, inform TMI by fastest means (email /fax) indicating your registration number. Passing of IMU test and minimum 60% in PCM group in Class XII is mandatory.
  2. Eligible students will be called for interviews and medicals by the sponsoring companies.
  3. Shipping companies will select the candidates and issue sponsorship letter.
  4. Candidate to submit/report to TMI with sponsorship letter and other documents.
  5. Payment of Fee as per details given in the Admission Letter.
  6. Report for the course at TMI as per instructions in the Admission Letter.

Training Ship Rahaman

  • The pre sea contact programme at an approved institute consists of two stages, each of about 23 weeks duration. Admission for this programme is offered twice a year in February and August. IMU will invite applications through advertisements in national dailies detailing all relevant information, criteria for admission, last date for submission of forms and a list of the training institutes which are approved by DGS & IMU to conduct the Course. Candidates have to clear IMU Combined Entrance Test (CET).
  • Prospective cadets who apply to the institute will be sent to shipping companies for selection / sponsorship. Those selected by the companies will be accepted for training. subject to clearing IMU CET.
  • The Cadets may please note that after successful completion of Stage 1 of the training programme, they are required in Stage 2 to complete the distance-learning programme SSTP at sea while actually staying on board a ship. Training Institute will liaise with IMU for delivery of the SSTP to the Cadet serving on board a ship.
  • The Training Institutes approved by DGS / IMU on behalf of IMU may admit Cadets sponsored by Shipping Companies. In case of sponsored Cadets, the Training Institutes are required to collect the duly completed forms from the Cadets and send them to IMU with the requisite fees and complete the enrolment formalities.
