Placement:- Placement record is Average like other companies

Waiting Period:- For Cadets who complete documentation early waiting is less(1st 5 cadets approx) Other Cadets waiting is between 8 to 10 months

Training & Wellbeing:- Very Excellent faculty but IT staff does not take load of our quarries and doesn\'t communicate well

  • Tolani Maritime institute conducts the one year Pre Sea Deck Cadet Course leading to Diploma in Nautical Science from the Indian Maritime University (IMU).
  • This diploma programme is followed by one and half year (3 Semesters) on-board ship training and after successful completion of the same, a candidate is awarded Advanced Diploma in Nautical Science (ADNS)
  • After completion of the on-board training, the Sixth Semester constitutes “Second Mate Certificate of Competency” awarded by the Directorate General of Shipping and leads to simultaneous award of B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science) degree from IMU.
  • The first two Semesters i.e. First year constitute on-shore training which is designed to impart basic knowledge on the type of merchant ships, ship operations, types of goods carried by ships, shipping trade and a good foundation in the basic principles of navigation and environmental sciences.
  • Admission to this course is granted after clearing IMUCET Intake for DNS (IMU) programme.
  • TMI has approval to admit 120 candidates for the Diploma in Nautical Science (IMU) leading to B.Sc. Applied Nautical Science (IMU). TMI accepts only company sponsored candidates for admission in the IMU programme. Training Ship Rahaman

  • The pre sea contact programme at an approved institute consists of two stages, each of about 23 weeks duration. Admission for this programme is offered twice a year in February and August. IMU will invite applications through advertisements in national dailies detailing all relevant information, criteria for admission, last date for submission of forms and a list of the training institutes which are approved by DGS & IMU to conduct the Course. Candidates have to clear IMU Combined Entrance Test (CET).
  • Prospective cadets who apply to the institute will be sent to shipping companies for selection / sponsorship. Those selected by the companies will be accepted for training. subject to clearing IMU CET.
  • The Cadets may please note that after successful completion of Stage 1 of the training programme, they are required in Stage 2 to complete the distance-learning programme SSTP at sea while actually staying on board a ship. Training Institute will liaise with IMU for delivery of the SSTP to the Cadet serving on board a ship.
  • The Training Institutes approved by DGS / IMU on behalf of IMU may admit Cadets sponsored by Shipping Companies. In case of sponsored Cadets, the Training Institutes are required to collect the duly completed forms from the Cadets and send them to IMU with the requisite fees and complete the enrolment formalities.
