  • The IMEC India Cadet Training Programme launched in September 2023 is a 2.5 year course which provides Indian nationals with Deck and Engineering opportunities. IMEC has partnered with three of the top training institutions accredited by the IMU, and formally endorsed by FOSMA and MASSA to provide IMEC scholars with the best maritime training in India, focusing on sustainable and responsible education principals and professional excellence.

  • The course is split into two phases with the first year spent with your chosen academy. After successful completion of year one, your sponsor will organise the required amount of sea time onboard one of their vessels, during which time you shall complete your onboard training record book. After successful completion, you shall return home and pass your Officer of the Watch examinations. Upon successful qualification, you shall then be endorsed to your sponsor for employment.

Graduate Marine Engineering Course Eligibility

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Above 60% Aggregate (consolidated marks) across all semesters
  • Minimum 50% marks in English in 10th/12th/Degree Examinations
  • Must have completed 10th and 12th from a recognized board.

Note

  • Candidates awaiting their final semester results are also encouraged to apply for the course. The students would however need to produce the 8th Semester Marksheet and have an aggregate of above 60% prior to the course commencement.

Max age:

  • 24 years.

Medically Fit

  • As per Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules 2000.
  • All candidates will be expected to pass the IMEC entrance examination and selection interview to be considered for scholarship.

  • The Application Fee paid is non-refundable.
  • As per D. G. Shipping Guidelines, passport is mandatory to join the course.
  • Caution Deposits are refundable at the end of the course after adjustments of laundry charges & damages, breakages etc., if any.
  • Fees paid is forfeited if withdrawn from the Course after the course commencement.
  • Admissions are subject to meeting the mandatory requirement of course.
  • All fees can be paid online. We offer Net Banking, UPI, Credit Card, and Debit Card. ⁠Cash/Cheque payments are not entertained.

MARINE ENGINEERING TRAINING INSTITUTE COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED

  • The fee for the course is ₹ 4,75,000/- and ₹ 10,000/- as admission charges. At the time of admission, the candidate shall pay an amount of ₹ 2,42,500/- (Two Lakhs Forty Two Thousand Five Hundred only) by online bank transfer OR by Demand Draft of any Bank, in favor of “Cochin Shipyard Limited”, payable at Ernakulam. The balance amount shall be paid within 3 months of start of the course. Additionally a caution deposit of ₹ 10,000/- shall be collected and same will be returned subject to non-liability from Hostel. The fee includes Tuition fee, Study Materials, Library & Laboratory charges, Uniforms, Boarding and Lodging expenses, Swimming pool charges, Group Insurance, TAR book, Training Manual and Student Membership of Institute of Marine Engineers. The Course fee for female candidate is ₹ 3,72,500/-. In case the candidate does not pay the fees within 3 months, a fine of ₹500/- per week shall be charged after 3 months of start of the course.
  • The Course fee includes fees towards five STCW modular courses, which the trainees have to undergo separately during / after completion of the course from METI. METI shall make arrangements for these courses.
  • Candidates will not be paid any stipend during the training.
  • If a candidate, after joining the training course, withdraws from the course within 15 days of starting of the course, 20% of total fees shall be deducted and balance refunded. In case the candidate withdraws from the course after 15 days from starting the course or is expelled on disciplinary grounds, he shall not be eligible for any refund of fees. Cancellation of admission before start of course, has to be submitted in writing by the admitted candidate and the cancellation charges of ₹10,000/- is applicable. If any candidate withdraws from the course within 15 days of commencement of the course on medical grounds the candidate may be granted refund of the fees subject to CSL management approval and deduction of expenditure incurred by METI for the candidate against his paid fees.

Graduate Marine Engineering Course Eligibility

Education Qualification:

  • Candidates should have scored a minimum aggregate of 65% marks in their B.Tech Mechanical/ Naval Architecture or Mechanical & Automation from a UGC or AICTE-approved university. Along with scoring 65% marks in the final year of the 4-year degree.
  • Diploma candidates who opted for lateral entry into the 2nd year of B.Tech should have scored a minimum of 65% in their Diploma. Followed by the eligibility criteria of a 4-year degree course.
  • Should have scored a minimum of 65% in PCM class 12th or as their Diploma aggregate.

English

  • Minimum 50% in English in class 10th or 12th or in their degree course.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should not be older than 28 years on the date of commencement of the course.

Physical and Medical Standards

  • All candidates need to clear the medical examination conducted by DG Shipping Approved Doctor.
