  • Seven Islands Maritime Training Institute (SIMTI) is a maritime training institute promoted by Seven Islands Shipping Limited (SISL) – India’s second-largest shipping company in the private sector.
  • The company fleet consists of 19 oil product tankers, 3 crude oil tankers, and 2 LPG carriers.
  • General Purpose (GP) Rating is a 6 months Pre-Sea Training course followed with 6 months Structured Shipboard Training for those who have completed their 2 years ITI or 3 years Diploma.
  • GP Rating candidates are trained in tasks of both Deck and Engine Room. Such Ratings may be employed either in Deck or Engine Departments according to the needs of the Company.

Placement:- 100% placement but waiting period is 12 to 18 month my suggestion is join nusi try to clear company interview

General Purpose Rating Course Eligibility

Education Qualification:

  1. Academic Standards: –
  1. Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th standard with Science, Mathematics as subjects.
  2. The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams or 12th standard exam.
  • Note:- The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.

AND

  1. Pass in 2-year ITI course (Fitter / Machinist / Mechanic / Welder / Turner) from Govt. Approved Institute with Minimum 50% Aggregate marks in final year.
  2. The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams or 12th standard exam.
  • Note:- The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.
OR
  1. Diploma or Degree holders.
  2. Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard with Science, Mathematics as subjects.
  3. The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams or 12th standard exam.
  • Note:- The candidate must have passed the10th standard from a recognized board. Government or the AICTE.
  • The maximum age limit for degree or diploma is raised with a condition that these candidates are provided shipboard training within one year of completion of course. The diploma or degree must be recognized by any State or Central.
  • Medical & Physical Standards: Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all its amendments as applicable to seafarers and have to undergo a Medical Examination with the Company appointed Doctor.

Please Note:

  1. 2 years ITI is compulsory to apply for GP Ratings at our institute.
  2. Passport is a mandatory document. In case selected, the candidate will require to have a valid passport one month before of joining the course.

How To Apply

  • Apply online at simtinstitute.org
  • You shall receive an e-mail invite to appear for Personal Interview at either Mumbai or the details of the venue will be sent on email. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of SIMTI. Candidate shall not be given a preference to choose a date.

Personal Interview

  • Candidates will be called for interview Subject to meeting above & SIMTI requirements.
  • Institute reserves the right to modify the cut off limits at their discretion.
  • Interview venue Mumbai (Shall be intimated adequate in advance prior to the process).
  • Those candidates who are selected in the personal interview shall undergo a medical test with the company appointed doctor.
  • A merit list shall be put out on the institute website taking into account past academic scores, interview scores as well as medical examination results.
  • The candidates who make it to the merit list shall be asked to pay a booking amount to reserve their seat. They will also be asked to submit /send necessary documents to the Admission Team.
  • After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued with a sponsorship letter on the basis of which they can avail loans with any nationalized bank.
  • The candidates shall receive a joining instruction as well as other documents that they need to submit before they join. candidates are encouraged to read the instructions carefully.
  • The candidates need to report in the morning of the course commencement date at SIMTI, Khopoli. The reporting date and time shall be intimated to the candidates.
  • NOTE: SIMTI reserves the right to modify the “Selection Procedure” and/or prepone/postpone the schedule of batch(es) at its discretion.
